Pope Benedict XVI called on Saturday for dialogue between Christians and people of other faiths on the second day of his landmark visit to Cyprus, an island divided between Christian and Muslim communities. The pontiff celebrated mass in the small church of the Holy Cross, in the buffer-zone of Nicosia, Cyprus' capital.

Pope Benedict XVI has arrived in Cyprus on a three-day 'pilgrimage,' hoping for harmony between the rival Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities on the divided eastern Mediterranean island. This is the pontiff's first trip to a mainly Orthodox country and the first ever papal visit to Cyprus.

It's the cup final where both teams claim to have God on their side. The Clericus Cup is the Vatican's own football championship, and this weekend has seen the final take place in the shadow of St Peter's with two teams of priests struggling to reconcile heated competition with the virtues of compassion and fairness.
