Christina Applegate, has bravely decided to have both breasts removed. Cancer was detected in one of her breasts and with a genetic profile that indicates a family tendancy to develop breast cancer, Christina decided that  a prophylactic double mastectomy was the best course of treatment for her.

"I just wanted to be rid of this whole thing for me. This was the choice that I made, and it was a tough one."

"I'm going to have cute boobs until I'm 90. I'm going to have the best boobs in the nursing home!"

The "Married With Children" & "Samantha Who" star,  plans to have breast reconstruction and implant surgery in the next eight months. She admits that she has days where she struggles to cope with her emotions.

Christina told the US TV show "Good Morning America": "Sometimes I cry. Sometimes I scream. I get really into wallowing in self-pity sometimes."

"It's all part of healing. It's OK to cry, it's OK to fall on the ground and just scream if you want to."

Christina says she is now "100 per cent clear and clean" of the disease following a successful course of treatment. Christina has stuck to a macrobiotic diet and avoided processed foods since her cancer diagnosis.
