Liverpool have gone three points clear at the top of the premier league by ending Chelsea's 86-game unbeaten run at Stamford Bridge.
Xabi Alonso's deflected 10th-minute goal gave Liverpool an early lead.
Chelsea had lots of possesion but Liverpool looked solid and could have doubled their victory margin had Alonso's second-half free-kick not hit the post.
Ashley Cole missed Chelsea's best chance just after half-time.
Liverpool were confident and deserved their win.
Chelsea hadn't lost at home in the league for four and a half years and should be congratulated on this amazing feat, although today it will be little consolation.
