Shares in Woolworths have been suspended as the firm continues 'Pick'n'Mix' talks to rescue the business.Restructuring firm Hilco is said to want to buy the stores, but has so far refused to comment on the speculation. BBC Worldwide, the BBC's commercial arm. Has confirmed that it was talking to Woolworths over the possible purchase of the retailer's 2 Entertain holding. Woolworths said in a statement on it's corporate website: | Statement re Suspension | | | Further to the announcement of 19 November 2008, the Board of Woolworths Group plc confirms that it remains in discussions relating to the potential sale of its retail business. The Board also notes recent press speculation in relation to the possible sale of its 40% interest in the 2 Entertain joint venture with BBC Worldwide. The Board can confirm that it is in discussions regarding a possible sale of that interest to BBC Worldwide. Whilst discussions in relation to such sales are being pursued with vigour, terms have not yet been agreed. Both sales are subject, amongst other things, to the approval of the Group's lending banks. Accordingly, there can be no assurance that a sale of the Group's retail business or of its interest in 2 Entertain will be concluded. Pending the outcome of these discussions and the consequent impact on the Company's financial position, the Company has requested a suspension of the trading of its shares on the London Stock Exchange. A further announcement will be made in due course. |

The Boabab tree is one of Africa's best kept secrets, well to those of us who've never spent time in Africa. It is an incredibly useful tree and could be a very useful cash crop in impoverished regions. The EU has just approved derivatives of the fruit for sale in Europe & the UK. The fruit will be removed from its nut and the pulp, which is white, powdery and has a cheese-like texture, will be used as an ingredient in products such as cereal bars.
