EXTRA RANKING 1 FOR 2009
“Dyson Parody leads the way for team World Cup 2009”.
In an interesting addition to the GDA, which has included 2 different sets of rankings (1 set to qualify for 2009 and another set to qualify for 2010), Dyson Parody won the event and is leading the way for team World Cup 2009. This has proved to be a very successful move, especially as it was played on a Tuesday and despite some opposition from members, the attendance was one of the highest of the past 5 years with 39 players. Also and if I recall correctly from records, one of the highest achieved high finishes and maximum 180’s scored in a single evening (20 x 180’s and 4 high finishes between 148 to 154).
Christian Tosso did very well and is starting to show promising signs as a player to keep an eye out in the future. He managed to see off some tough competition to reach the semi-finals. However it was not to be as stumbling block, Dylan Duo, as we know had other objectives and Christian’s good run ended in the semis. The other semi-final was contested between long-standing champion George Federico and soon to be pro Dyson Parody. This match was a closer affair and it went down to the last leg, it was Dyson who came out on top.
The final itself started with a strong lead by Dyson who at one point was 5-2 up and looked a clear favourite. In recent times he has at this point tended to relax and he paid for it, especially with Dylan Duo and his ongoing continuous tenacity. A few blinks later and it was 5 a piece and they were both battling away for that last leg win. In the end the last leg simply went to and fro but it was Dyson Parody who took it.
