P&O's oldest liner is having engine trouble.
The MS Artemis originally the MS Royal Princess, and inaugurated by Diana, Princess of Wales was renamed the MS Artemis by 'Sybil Fawlty' actress Prunella Scales.
The ship has missed stopping at the ports of Naples, Valencia and Gibraltar due to a fourth engine problem.
A P&O Cruises' customer service team has been specially flown out to join the ship in Istanbul.
Unhappy passengers are protesting and have been told they will each get a £200 refund on their return, and their on-board credit has been doubled from the original compensation of £150 (for missing Valencia) to £300.
In a statement the company said: "Due to a technical issue Artemis is operating at reduced speed therefore it has been necessary to make changes to the current itinerary.
"There are no safety issues relating to the limitation of speed. A team of engineers is currently on board working to rectify the issue."
The ship is due to return to Southampton on May 16.
The MS Artemis is currently the smallest ship in the P&O cruises fleet. However on 22nd September 2009 it was announced that she has been sold to Artania Shipping and will leave the P&O fleet in April 2011.
In 2010 the British woman Sarah Breton took charge of Artemis, becoming only the second female in the world to captain a major cruiseliner and the first for P&O.
