MINIMUM INCOME GUARANTEE

The Minimum Income Guarantee has been increased by 6% with retrospective effect to 1st April 2008, as follows:

• Single Persons - from £448.10 to £475.00 per month

• Married Couple - from £598.10 to £634.00 per month

 

The 65.2 per cent increase in old age pensions, which came into effect on 1st April 2007 will continue to be disregarded for the purposes of entitlement.

Subsequent increases in pensions will not be disregarded and pensioners will be compensated by this increase in the Minimum Income Guarantee level.

Recipients of Minimum Income Guarantee who are not in receipt of an old age pension will continue to receive a supplement at the rate of £26.10 per month for a single person and £34.80 per month for a married couple.

Government Press Release:-

The European Court of First Instance has informed the Gibraltar Government that it will deliver its judgement in the Gibraltar State Aid case on the 18th December 2008.

The Government will not be distracted in its plans for the very delicate transition to the new low rate corporate tax system by inaccurate and ill informed Opposition statements.

julian baldachinoThe GHA’s Pathology Department has now received all the results of the 3,500 blood tests collected in Gibraltar. Laboratories in Germany, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and the US have been engaged in analysing the tests within the time window identified by Julian’s Medical Team at Great Ormond Street.

Amongst some of the results which were delivered to the GHA on the 14 November, there were three potential donors who had a B locus match. These were sent to the UK for further analysis.

Unfortunately, after further testing, none of the potential donors have compatibility for the bone marrow transplant required by Julian.
