Clowance, the 11-8 favourite, produced another encouraging performance at Newbury this season to earn general quotes of 10-1 for the Oaks at Epsom. The Roger Charlton-trained filly, who won a 1m 2f maiden in April, doubled up with another win over the same distance.
Riden by Steve Drowne Clowance beati Kotsi into second while Hobby finished third in the seven-runner Swettenham Stud Filles Trial Stakes.
Lush Lashes and Katiyra remained market leaders for the Oaks on 6 June.
Friday's race at Newbury was the last major Oaks trial and Clowance's price shortened after her win.
Always travelling smoothly Clowance made her move two furlongs out, she quickened nicely and beat the second favourite, ridden by Jamie Spencer, by 1¾ lengths.
Clowance is a daughter of Montjeu and is bred to come into her own over middle distances and trips in excess of this distance are likely to be well within her range.
Charlton said: "The owner is very keen to go to the Oaks.
"She just gallops and stays and when she hit the front, she didn't do a lot. She'll need to improve on that but she should do so."
If you are looking for a decent priced contender to challenge Lush Lashes and Katiyra, Clowance might be the one to follow in the Oaks.
