Rossi Wins thrilling US GP at Laguna Seca

Valentino Rossi

Valentino Rossi won the US MotoGP at Laugana Seca.
Ending Casey Stoner's four-race winning streak.

In a thrilling race Stoner and Rossi pulled well away from the field and fought a duel around the exciting undulating track.

It finished with Stoner in the gravel with eight laps to go. The gap back to third was so great he rejoined the race still in second place.

It was an exciting race with some thrilling and daring overtaking. Stoner wasn't happy with some of the moves but talking about the incident were he went off the track he said:

"I completely made the mistake, it was all my own".

"But at the beginning of the race, with some of those overtaking moves, I was so nearly on the floor that it wasn't funny."
"I know it's hard racing, I've been in hard racing all my life, but some of that was past the point. I don't think it was necessary."

Rossi however had a different opinion. "This is racing, every overtake was very clear for me - I never touched him," he said. "The reality is I am stronger in braking, so I try to use this advantage. I deserved it, I think he made the mistake alone - it happens."

"It was a great weekend," said Rossi. "These 25 points are like gold for our championship."

British rider James Toseland finished ninth, having been in seventh for much of the race, but he said he was glad to have improved on his recent poor run of form.

The next round of the MotoGP championship is at Brno in the Czech Republic on 17 August.

Alonso Keeps On Whining about McLaren and Hamilton

Fernando AlonsoFernando Alonso continues to spit the dummy about the running of the McLaren team.

Ron Dennis has dismissed again renewed suggestions from Fernando Alonso that his team shows favouritism towards Lewis Hamilton.

Alonso, who lost the plot last season because he wasn't given special treatment by McLaren, has reignited his war of words with his former employer over the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend.

Hamilton Wins German Grand Prix

Lewis HamiltonLewis Hamilton won the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim.
He took Pole position and led from the front until Timo Glock was involved in a spectacular shunt which resulted in the introduction of the safety car and the erosion of Hamilton's comfortable 12-second lead.
Most of the leaders pitted under the safety car but Hamilton's team decided to leave him out.
The decision was wrong. Not the first time te McLaren team's tactics have been brought into question. Better, less risky strategies last season, would have seen Hamilton crowned Champion.

The team wrongly thought Hamilton had enough laps to build up a 23second lead necessary for him to pit and remain leader. Their thinking was to minimise the laps Hamilton would have to do on the softer tyre.
