A Dani Pedrosa breakaway worked to perfection in the Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya and he never looked back. It was  1999 when Alex Criville won at Barcelona and a home win was long overdue.

Pedrosa set a new circuit record on the second lap, and he kept the pace up throughout the 25 lap race.

A fourth consecutive win  for Fiat Yamaha star Rossi wasn't possible, he nonetheless fought his way up from ninth on the grid. A penultimate lap slipstream of Stoner gave him second place, a sixth consecutive podium and, most importantly, the advantage necessary to maintain the lead in the MotoGP World Championship.

The race was littered with retirements at the midway point, with Alex de Angelis, Loris Capirossi and Randy de Puniet all crashing out in quick succession. Toni Elias was black flagged for not obeying an order for a ride-through penalty.

Lewis HamiltonCongratulations to Lewis Hamilton on becoming Formula One World Champion 2008.

At the penultimate corner, Hamilton passed Glock to claim fifth place - and with it the title.

The drama started before the race when a very heavy shower delayed the race and teams switched to intermediate (wet) tyres.

Hamilton kept out of trouble and was settling for the 4/5th spot he needed to win the title.

But rain intervened again in the final laps.
leading to an amazing last lap drama.

Lewis HamiltonAfter a rollercoaster season of F1 races, steward's enquiries, appeals and a few crazy moments. The F1 Driver's Championship  comes to the final race today at Interlagos in Brazil.

The grid positions were decided yesterday and it wasn't a good qualifying session for Hamilton.

His only rival for the championship Philipe Massa was on pole position. Hamilton finished fourth.
He has both Ferraris in front of him and more worryingly his nemesis Fernando Alonso behind him.

luca_cordero_di_montezemolo ferrariFerrari president Luca di Montezemolo is keen for the FIA to change the rules regarding team orders in Formula One.

In the Austrian Grand Prix in 2002 Rubens Barrichello blatantly moved aside for Michael Schumacher, earning jeers from the crowd and worldwide condemnation.

Team orders were banned by the FIA after a world-wide outcry.

Lewis HamiltonLewis Hamilton won the Chinese Grand Prix. Leading all the way in a boring yet tense race.

Boring because the front four on the grid finished in the first four positions.
Tense because the track was covered in marbles from the tyres, and Hamilton's team-mate Heikki Kovalainen had a puncture which could have happened to any of the drivers at any time.

Other than a first lap duel between Alonso and Kovalainen there was little overtaking.
No pit lane incidents.
No dodgy decisions by stewards.

Raikkonen and Massa swapped positions towards the end of the race to ensure Massa got an extra two points.

Fernando AlonsoFernando Alonso won the Japanese Grand Prix. After driving a perfect race to follow up on his win in Singapore.

A poor start by Lewis Hamilton from pole position saw him try to regain the lead by braking late into the first corner. He ran wide taking Raikonnen with him.
He rejoined the race behind title rival Massa who he overtook but Massa after leaving te track ran into amilton making Hamilton spin and putting im last
Hamilton flat spotted his tyres and had to pit.
