Reigning world champion Casey Stoner dominated at Donington with a pole-to-flag victory in the British MotoGP. The Australian set the fastest times in practice and qualifying, and he won easily finishing 5.789 seconds clear of the field.

Championship leader Valentino Rossi was second, for the second race, just ahead of Catalunya winner Dani Pedrosa.

James Toseland had a disastrous start to his home grand prix, crashing on the first corner of the first lap before eventually finishing in 17th place. The Briton started from 16th place on the grid. following his struggles in the wet in qualifying. He ruined any chances he had when he spun into the gravel on the first corner attempting a adrenilin rushed start.

Despite hurting his wrist in the fall, he continued to lap on his Tech 3 Yamaha, but he rarely looked likely to challenge for points and he finished a lap behind Stoner.

"Today has been possibly the most disappointing day of my life," he said. "I have let everyone down.
