The Spanish National Court has agreed to accept a lawsuit that indicts four alleged former Nazi concentration camp guards. The lawsuit is being brought by Brussels-based rights organization, Equipo Nizkor. If it is successful, it could result in the the mens' extradition from the United States to face trial over the deaths of Spanish citizens. The lawsuit names John Demjanjuk, an 88-year-old retired auto worker in Ohio who is also sought by Germany, as well as Anton Tittjung, Josias Kumpf and Johann Leprich.
Under Spanish law war crimes and other heinous offenses can be prosecuted in Spain even if they allegedly were committed abroad.

National Court judge, Baltasar Garzón, has opened a case against the Franco administration for crimes against humanity, blaming them for the disappearance of 114,266 people. The Partido Popular (PP) who's founder, Manuel Fraga, is the only ex member of Franco’s cabinet who is still in political life is currently a senator. Fraga said that it was an error and absurd that a man could define himself as competent in a matter where it is debatable that anyone has competence given the amnesty laws.

 Spain's Brigada Investigación Tecnologia have arrested 121 people on child pornography including bank clerks, porters and airline pilots. Some are foreigners resident in Spain. About 800 officers were involved in conducting 210 searches in 42 different provinces. Millions of images that show child sex abuse, stored on a total of 47 hard drives, 1,186 CDs and DVDs and 36 laptops have been seized. It has been described as the country's largest ever operation against internet child pornography.

Two large window rattling blasts were heard this morning in Málaga.Residents thought bombs had exploded. The mobile network went down. "It was very loud and it sounded like a bomb but it's a false alarm," a government spokesman said.

 Spanair flight AJK5022 has reportedly broken into at least two pieces and crashed after a second attempt at taking off at Madrid's Barajas. An engine was reported to be on fire and the aircraft swerved off the runway.

A small bomb has exploded on a beach in the Costa del Sol resort of Guadalmar following a warning call, causing no injuries and little damage.
A caller who said he spoke in the name of the Basque separatist group ETA warned fire services in Benalmádena that three bombs would explode.
