Andy Murray beat Rafa Nadal in the semi-final of the grand slam US Tennis Open.
Murray won the rain interupted match 6-2 7-6 (7-5) 4-6 6-4.

Murray recovered from a break down in the fourth set to beat the World No1.

He faces four-time defending champion Roger Federer in Monday's final.

Murray is aiming to become the first British man to win a Grand Slam singles title since Fred Perry won the US Open in 1936.

The final will take place today late, at 2300 CET 8th September 2008.

Andy Murray TennisBritain's Andy Murray has won his first Masters Series title in Cincinnati. Murray's beat the world number three Novak Djokovic in the final. Winning 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-5) in two hours and 23 minutes.

He is now ranked 6th an the World Tennis Association Rankings a rise of three places.

The battling Scot now heads to the Beijing Olympics.
Where he'll represnt Great Britain.

Murray feels he that recent form and an improving game has shown that he is capable of winning a Grand Slam.
"I think I have the game to win a Slam," Murray said.

"My results here show I have the potential to do it."

"I've started to play more consistently in the bigger tournaments," Murray added.
"And winning my first Masters event makes a big difference to my confidence."


The next Grand Slam event is the US Open at Flusing Medows at the end of August.

She spoke with a smile on her face. "I'm here to announce that I'm putting a definitive end to my tennis career," She told the crowd assembled at her press conference in Belgium on Wednesday.

Her smile broadened as she absorbed the stunned reaction. News of her impending retirement had already circulated but confirmation still stunned the assembled press corps. "It's a shock for many people," she continued. "But for me, it's a decision I've thought hard about for quite a while now."
 
 "Maybe people will think I'm still young, but in life there are no rules," she said. "I've invested enormously in my sport. Since I was 5 years old, I've only lived for that... I will disappear from the rankings next Monday with the No. 1 number and immense pride." "I feel no regrets. On the contrary, it's more like a relief, more of a look toward the future." 
 
"It is my life as a woman that begins now."
