In the Israeli town of Nazareth, where Jesus is believed to have grown up with his mother Mary and her husband Joseph, the Christian community is staging a reconstruction of his early life just in time for Christmas.

Hannukah - Chanukah Festival of Lights

Hanukkah is the annual Jewish festival celebrated on eight successive days.
This year it falls on December 1st - 9th.
Chanukah begins on the twenty-fifth day of the Jewish month of Kislev. The Jewish calendar is primarily based on the lunar cycle, and its dates fluctuate with respect to other calendar systems. Thus the first day of Chanukah can fall anywhere between November 28th and December 26th.
On each of the eight days of Chanukah, we light the menorah, a nine-branched candelabra, after nightfall (aside for Friday afternoon, when the candles are lit shortly before sunset).
It is traditional to eat foods fried in oil on Chanukah, to commemorate the miracle of Chanukah which occurred with oil. It is also customary to eat dairy foods during the holiday.
It is customary on Chanukah to give money gifts to children, and to play dreidel .
It is also customary to give an increased amount of charity each day of Chanukah.
There are also certain passages added to the daily prayers and grace after meals.
